Kefalari

  The village Kefalari, at an elevation of 850m., has been classified as a traditional settlement and is located in mountainous Corinthia. It is located 130km from Athens and Patra and 25km from Kiato.

  An unknown destination for many but well-known for those who love the beauty of nature, life in it, tranquillity and tradition. This village has been chosen many years ago by the Naturalist Club to build their guesthouse.
Kefalari of mountainous Corinthia is located at the foothills of mount Zireia- Killini, birthplace of God Hermes. Kefalari, or otherwise Dousia (its name from 1388 until 1940) was one of the biggest villages of mountainous Corinthia with 1200 residents.

  In the village centre there is a picturesque square under the shadow of a centenarian Platanus (over 130 years old) that prevails over it. Next to it, a stone built church and the traditional guesthouse Archontiko Kefalari. In the lower part of the square, the stone fountain with its crystal clear water that has been flowing for centuries. Going down the village you come across the old stone built school and just outside the village the fountain, from which the village was named.

  From the village two environmental paths begin, one leads to Megali Spilia and the other to the plateau and top of Mikri Zireia. Hiking lovers can reach the gorge of Flampouritsa and the Spilaio of Ermi. Also, one can get to know the divine mountain of Ziria- Killini by jeep or mountain bike (available at our guesthouse) through the dirt road that connects Kefalari with Manna and Trikala.
